Ghillie Kettle Anodised , what does it do and what are the benefits?

"The result of anodising is that you get a coating which is scratch resistant and, importantly, unlike stainless steel, none of our kettles rust!
Anodising is primarily used to toughen up the outer shell of the aluminium. What the process actually does is create an aluminium hydroxide layer on the surface of the metal. After the process is complete the aluminium is no longer susceptible to nicks and scratches to the surface because the pores of the metal have tightened up creating a harder surface. However, for normal camping and hiking activities we recommend the normal aluminium kettle which is very robust. Anodised finishes are really only required when the kettle is used during rugged activities and will be exposed to excessive wear and tear.
